The Crestron USB-EXT 6505317 USB Over Twisted Pair Extender is a professional USB extension solution designed to transmit USB signals over long distances using standard twisted-pair cabling. It enables USB connectivity over distances of up to 100 m (330 ft), making it suitable for commercial AV installations, conference rooms, classrooms, boardrooms, command centers and residential applications.
The USB-EXT supports both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0, including low-speed, full-speed and high-speed USB devices. The system uses a Local Extender connected to the computer or USB host and a Remote Extender positioned where USB peripherals are required. The two units communicate through a single CAT5 or better twisted-pair cable.
The Remote Extender provides two USB Type-A ports for connecting peripherals such as keyboards, mice, cameras, game controllers, printers, memory devices and other compatible USB equipment. The system is designed for straightforward plug-and-play operation without requiring additional drivers or programming for supported operating systems.
The Crestron USB-EXT is an excellent choice for extending USB connectivity where the host computer and USB peripherals need to be physically separated over a substantial cable distance.
